Holistic Stewardship

We were made for more

When God created humanity in his image, the first task he gave us, the first reflection of his image to the newly-created world, was stewardship. We’ve narrowed stewardship down to finances, cheapened it if you will. We were made for more. We were commissioned to care for and cultivate all of creation.

I believe that holistic, whole-life stewardship goes hand in hand with Jesus’ calling to love our neighbors. Living these things out is a radical departure from the hurried consumer culture of our day, and it will take a great deal of intentionality. To be the image-bearers we were created to be, we have to re-orient our lives around the stewardship commission and the neighboring calling.
